Sorry I've been without steady internet for quite a while. I cancelled my Car insurance as I won't be driving for the next three months, Because I'm a student my I timed my apartment lease to be up by December knowing I'd be gone for the spring semester (6 mo's ahead. As for the cellphone Plan, for 15 dollars every 3 months verizon has put my plan on vacation mode (hibernation) and I will reactivate it as if I hadn't left when I return. As for car insurance, My car is happily parked in my parents driveway and it is currently uninsured. I knew that this was an option in July, and began my preparations in mid july to have everything in order by January. It does take some forthought but once you've called and talked to each agency its possible to put your payments on hold or to find a date to cancel.

I'm sorry for the delay in response bud!

Nice write up, Nate. A few questions I have for you, though! I'm not sure how you evaded some of the prices you list for being back in the states such as cell phone, rent, and car insurance. Unless you have one of those generic cell phone plans where you pay as you go, I'm wondering how you were able to get out of all that stuff while being overseas. Did your planned internship happen to fall when your lease/cell phone contract/insurance plan were all up? If so, how far in advance were you able to plan all of this? Thanks in advance for the answers, these are issues I'm currently fighting to help travel more often. I have a fresh passport that needs to be used :)
